Apple, Beets, and Carrot Juice (aka ABC Juice).

I’ve been a juicing fan since I was a kid. I remember our first juicer when I was growing up — what a pain in the ass it was to clean it! The one I have now is much better, but still isn’t part of my daily routine as my smoothie maker is far simpler to use and easier to clean.

Still, I love fresh fruit juice and appreciate the health benefits they offer. Last year I did a 5 day juice reboot and found my skin was glowing, my sleep had improved, and I was able to eliminate my addiction to eating peanut butter every night. (It was a problem. Seriously.)

One simple and tasty juice recipe is referred to as ABC juice. It contains just three things — apples, beets, and carrots. You can add some honey or stevia if you like, but I find it’s naturally sweet enough for me.

Per serving, you’ll want to use one apple, 1-2 beets (depending on size), and four carrots. Peel the beets and carrots, but the apple can keep the skin on. You can adjust the proportions to your liking. Drink the juice right away — fresh from the juicer or served over ice. Don’t let it sit too long or it breaks apart requiring you to shake it up a bit.
